Elizabeth Fortescue

I have painted since I was a child. I studied Architecture in London and then after a break for children, went to Winchester College of Art for a foundation course followed by a BA (Hons) in Textile Design and Fashion.

In 1977 I went to live in Italy with my family where I did freelance textile design work. I returned to live in West Dorset in 1984 and worked as a graphic designer and on stage sets and costumes.
I studied painting with John Skinner who is an inspirational teacher. I started printmaking with the Morcombelake Art Group in 2006. I have exhibited in several West Country galleries and in Dorset Art Weeks.
My work is deeply influenced by my love of the West Dorset landscape, in particular the hills, valleys and streams of the Marshwood Vale.
